Malec on the way

With Wade Redden still out with the knee injury, and Zdeno Chara serving his one game suspension, the Senators have called Tomas Malec up for tonight's game in Florida against the Panthers. This will be the first time we see Malec in a Sens uniform, as he was injured throughout training camp and the pre-season and never played a game.

I find it interesting that they called up Malec over a few of the other options. Bryan Murray is a big fan of Lance Ward, having had him in both Florida and Anaheim during his runs there, so you'd think he'd be near the front of the line. As well, Filip Novak, who was acquired in a trade with Florida in October, is said to have been the best defenceman in Binghamton this season.

Malec has zero goals, seven assists, and -13 in 23 games this season. His favorite pizza toppings are ham and mushroom.
