A simple query

For you Sens fans (and I assume that's most of you reading this), a pretty basic question: do you feel confident about Ray Emery's ability to perform in the playoffs? A simple yes or no will suffice, but feel free to elaborate on why you feel that way.

Honestly, no...and it breaks my heart.

Yes, I am confident he will get us through the first round. I think the question is, do his teammates feel confident about his ability ....

Yes, because if the team plays like they can and should, then Emery will be good enough to get the job done.

We saw it in March. When the team comes to play, Razor is a more than capable goalie. If they play sloppy and lazy, he gives up a bunch of goals and his confidence gets wrecked.

If the Sens get knocked out, I'd venture to say it won't be Emery's fault.

I do feel confident, actually. During this most recent stretch of bad games I still feel that Emery has played well enough for the team to win. It's the defense that has been atrocious.

If the Sens win tonight against the Rangers, I'll feel even better.

I like Emery, but I find he plays the way the team plays. When the team plays well, he comes up big, when they get sloppy, he lets in the soft goals. I think if the team starts playing well, Emery won't dissappoint. He is the least of my worries at this point.

If the team plays half decent in front of him, Razor will be enough. I don't think he's up to stealing a later round series though (first round maybe).

I'm confident he'll be as good as any other goalie the Senators have taken into the playoffs (Tugnutt, Rhodes, Barasso, Lalime). Which is to say, good enough to win a round or two but not good enough to really make the difference in 1 goal nail-biters. Hasek potentially brought an intimidation factor to the club that none of the others ever did.

He's shown that he can win hockey games. I'm confident the Sens can win with him in goal.

I know Emery has the skill level to win games for the Sens. However, with wonky hip cutting down on his lateral movement and his play of late does make me nervous.

Honestly I am a big fan of Emery and think he will be legit #1, but for right now, for this playoffs, I am hoping that he is in the Chris Osgoode mold because I don't think he will steal games for us.

In my heart of hearts I just don't think he's ready to take us to the promised land.

It's up in the air. We've never seen the guy in the post season and while I don't think he can steal games for us at this point in his career I think he CAN be good enough to help us win a stanley cup, if the rest of the team steps up.

I do know he was one of the few players to step up his game for the farm team one year ago in the AHL playoffs.

Yes.

no. i think he will play to his capability, but will not outshine the opposition. I'm thinking he should handle tampa - but after that I would like Hasek to be ready. We need someone scary good if we want to take down Brodeur or Huet.

I know he can keep us in the games, but im not sure he can single handedly carry the team through a game or even a round. They NEED a healthy Hasek back soooner rather than later.

I hope Hasek stays away -- Emery is a great goalie and will go as far as the team in front of him wants to.

I have Emery in my playoff pool (one of 3 goalies picked).

He could easily be the story of the playoffs (in a good way).

This kid has talent, as time will tell.
